With its daisy-themed inner dial, butterfly-motif hour and minute hands and bright jewel tones, Christophe Claret’s Marguerite watch is quintessentially feminine.
Named for Queen Marguerite of France—the daughter of King Henry II and Catherine de Medici—this model features an 18-karat white or rose gold case set with diamonds and either rubies or sapphires. It also contains the brand’s in-house-made automatic 4Hz Caliber MT115, with two barrels and a 72-hour power reserve.
Along with the time indication, the dial presents a second display, activated when a pusher at 2 o’clock is pressed. This reveals the phrase “Il m’aime passionement,” or “he loves me passionately.”
The back of the case features a version of the “He loves me, he loves me not” game, usually played with daisy petals. In order to play, the watch must be placed in a horizontal position and accompanied by one or two undulating movements to set an oscillating weight in motion. The ruby closest to the back display’s red-lacquered heart provides the response—“yes” or “no.”
